Commission for the codification of the laws in civil matters; Reports and draft code sections: Repts. 1–7+Supp. entitled “Changes”, contained in
three books, Quebec, Geo. E. Desbarats, all 1865. (There are major differences between this version and Version Two. Moeover, despite the appearance of
the legend “First Edition” on the spine of Version Two, almost certainly Version One, printed solely by Geo. E. Desbarats, came first in time. The
contents of Version One are: Vol. 1, Repts. 1–3, issued Oct. 1861, 22 May 1862, & 22 Oct. 1862 respectively; Vol. II, Repts. 4–5, issued 20 Feb. 1863 &
Jan. 1864 respectively; and Vol. III, Repts. 6–7+Supp., issued 1 July, 15 Nov., & 21 Nov. 1864, respectively. All parts have Fr. & Eng. on opposing
pages. Tables of contents are provided only for Repts. 6–7. The Supp. in this version lacks the preface of the commissioners. Each of the three books has
its own continuous pagination. This later is by far the major difference between between the two texts. There is absolutely no congruence between the
numbering systems used in the two versions, and outside citations will have to be checked carefully to ascertain the version to which they pertain.)
