Are You Listening, Neighbor? Report of the Indian Affairs Task Force; a Joint Task Force of the Governor’s Advisory Council on Urban Affairs and the Governor’s Indian Advisory Committee. Published by the State of Washington (1971). 109 p. Contents of this document include chapters on National Indian policy and the Washington Indian; the law and the Indian, including jurisdiction on the reservation; and social policy regarding employment, housing, health care and public assistance. It includes nine appendixes, including Tribal Sovereignty and Indian Citizenship; Taxation of Washington Indians; Chief Seattle’s Speech; Task Force legislative proposals, the text of the treaty of Point Elliott, 1855; and names and addresses of tribal leaders and Indian organizations. (Task Force members included Wayne W. Williams, Chairman; and Hilda Bryant, who played a leading role in writing the report.)
