Joint Select Comm. on Cherokee Indians. Report, 1833
|
|
1833 Report of the Joint Select Committee relating to the Cherokee Indians, which was presented to the members of the United States Congress. North Carolina wished to have the federal policy changed, as it perceived that the Cherokee tribe was moving all members to its state. Of note, the memorial noted that "The red men are not within the pales of civilization;" who might be "induced" to move to the territory beyond the Mississippi River. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the University of North Carolina Library at Chapel Hill).
