1859 Report from Capt. Charles Wilkes, U.S. Navy, regarding his survey of the land around the Deep River. The survey was transmitted by Governor
John Ellis, along with the governor's recommendations that the General Assembly pass pending bills requesting funds to complete a railroad from
Fayetteville to the coal fields by the Deep River and to complete the navigation works on the Deep River. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles
