September 8, 1869 Proclamation from Governor William A. Pile in Spanish and English which clarified that only marauding bands of Navajo Indians be
considered hostile; ones on reservations were to be considered peaceable. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the Henry E.
Huntington Library in San Marino, California).
Title:   Proclamation : Whereas, R. B. Mitchell, Governor of the Territory of New Mexico, did on the 2nd day of August eighteen hundred and sixty nine issue his proclamation ... In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and caused the Great Seal of the Territory to be affixed this 8th day of Septermber A. D. 1869. Wm. A. Pile, Governor
