February 4, 1715 Case of the Governor and Council in Massachusetts Bay following an expiration of the Parliament's proclamation allowing the continuation of the governor following the death of Queen Anne. The Council thereafter considered itself the ruling government, pending advice from the new king, King George I. See LLMC #24094-95 for related documents.
