Commissioners on Revision of the Statutes. Report, 1835
Senate No. 7 Report of the Commissioners on the Revision of the Statutes. Their report was delivered on December 31, 1834, presenting a general
view of their plan. They looked at other states' statutes and decided the New York plan would work well for Massachusetts: Parts, Titles, Chapters, and
Sections. Part I is for administration of government, with thirteen titles, and fifty-five chapters. Part II covered property issues, with seven
titles and forty-two chapters. Part III was for the courts, with six titles and forty-two chapters. Part IV was for crime and punishment, with three
titles and twenty-three chapters. The group hoped to be done by the next session. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the
Massachusetts State Library).
