Secretary of the Commonwealth. Returns of towns for expenses incurred making maps, 1833
House No. 7 On January 15, 1833, the Secretary of State submitted a list of towns in the Commonwealth which had spent money on developing plans or
maps of their areas. The list was four pages long, organized by county and towns within that county. Two hundred and thirty towns had done plans for
a total cost of $14,911.04 1/2. The plans themselves are not present to be able to tell if more money spent meant a better product. (Digitized from
a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
Title:   In obedience to an order of the 11th inst. I herewith lay before the House the returns from the several towns and districts of the Commonwealth, of the amount expended by them in taking plans of said towns and districts, under a resolve of March 1st, 1830, (so far as the same have been received in the Secretary's Office)--together with a list or abstract containing the names of the towns which have made returns, and the sums expended by them set against their names respectively.
