SEE ALSO 51977 H.R. No. 53 On February 18, 1828, the Attorney General reported that lottery miscreants in Boston united in an appeal from the Municipal Court to the Supreme Judicial Court, but lost their case. That improved the situation markedly in the City. In 1827, one case was filed in Bristol with the Supreme Judicial Court whose opinion was expected in the spring. In obedience to the order of the Honorable House of February 15, the Attorney-General respectfully reports to the Honorable House--that as soon as possible after the passage of the law of March, 1826, measures were taken by the law officers of the commonwealth, to procure evidence sufficient for conviction of, and to institute prosecutions against, all such as fell within the penalties of the statute, by advertising for sale, and selling tickets in unauthorized lotteries in the city of Boston ... .
