Description and Holding Information
Senate. Comm. on the State Lunatic Hospital. Act in addition to an act on the State Lunatic Hospital, 1835
Senate No. 54 On March 14, 1835, an unnamed committee reported a bill: An Act in addition to an act concerning the State Lunatic Hospital, 1835.
If a person with no legal place of settlement was committed to the hospital by a court, then no jurisdiction was liable for the cost of his/her care,
the person was so liable. If a person did have a legal place of settlement and was committed by a court, that jurisdiction was liable for the cost of
care. If the hospital became too crowded, the trustees could remand some patients to county jails. Foreigners were to leave first and then patients
with the least chance of successful treatment. There were directions for recovering costs. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held
