Senate No. 53 On March 15, 1833, the Committee on Mercantile Affairs and Insurance reported a bill: An Act to incorporate the Mount Washington
Association in the City of Boston, 1833. Five men and their associates were made a body corporate as the Mount Washington Association to improve Mount
Washington, aka Telegraph Hill. The boundaries of the neighborhood were described; the Corporation had to buy properties from willing sellers. The
Corporation could hold real estate to a value of $500,000 and personal property to $100,000. The Corporation could decide on the number of its shares.
