Joint Comm. on the Militia. Report, 1824
Report from a Joint Committee on the Militia from representatives of both Houses ... January 28, 1824. Apparently, there was consideration of having
the militia train to the standard of the federal Army. The Committee felt this was unnecessary in both time, expense and the disruption of labor
patterns. Each state had different needs for its militia, so training to a federal standard might not be useful. Conclusion: Leave things as they are.
