House. Comm. on Free Negroes. Report, 1822
January 16, 1822 report of the House Committee regarding a bill to allow the admission of Negroes and mulattoes into the state. Although the
committee noted that Negroes and mulattoes proportionally more represented in debtors' and other prisons, they could not support a law limiting their
residence in the state. Included was a discussion of the history of the existence of slavery and anti-slavery laws in the state. (Digitized from a
microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
