|
Senate No. 76 Memorial of the New England Silk Company, 1836. In March of 1836, eight members of the company petitioned the Legislature for a grant to buy a large tract of land with water power so they could put the manufacture of silk on a firm footing. France and England supported their silk industries, which were quite robust. [No specific amount of money was requested.] (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
