1808, Memorial of B. Austin and report

|
February 15, 1808 memorial of Benjamin Austin challenging the Chief Justice's decision regarding when murder might be reduced to manslaughter or excusable homicide. Following said memorial, a committee reviewed the petition and concluded that the general principle was appropriate although the Chief Justice was not apprised of the underlying facts in the relevant case. The report was submitted for the House to take action. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
