February 4, 1715 Proclamation from the Massachusetts Bay Council which stated that the Council thereafter considered itself the ruling government,
following an expiration of the Parliament's proclamation allowing the continuation of the governor following the death of Queen Anne. See LLMC #24093

And whereas by reason that there is no person within the said province, commissionated by Our Soveraign Lord King George, to be governour within the same ; the government is now devolved upon the Council ...
