1856 Report of the Select Committee regarding the visit to the penitentiary, House of Refuge, and the Asylum for the Blind. The committee found the
latter two in good condition, and made several recommendations regarding appropriations. However the committee found numerous issues regarding the
penitentiary and suggested various changes to alleviate the more pressing issues. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the
