Fortieth Legislature. House. No. 38. On February 20, 1861, the Superintendent of Public Buildings sent his list of expenditures. He pointed out
that he answered to the Governor and had never been told the appropriation for his department. He sent two pages of tradespeople, their tasks, and

Title:   To the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives : In compliance with an order of the Legislature, I herewith transmit a statement of the expenditures made during the past year for furniture, alterations and repairs, the names of the persons to whom the money was paid, and the purposes for which it was paid.
