(This edition includes the research found in works by Maine, Pollock and Maitland, and Vinogradoff and the statutes from England and the United States which modify the text. It also refers to cases decided and textbooks published since Blackstone’s time which cite him as authority. Lewis publishes the name of the editor when using the notes of others and leaves his notes unsigned.)
