to provide a complete picture of the laws and legal customs of an English medieval town, consulted the Great Gild Book of Beverly. The introduction
describes fourteenth century Beverley. Subsequest chapters include orders in Latin with an English translation on the opposite page. There are
introductory notes between each section. A detailed name and subject index begins on p.138. The beginning of the volume indicates this is Volume XIV of the
publications of the Selden Society for the year 1900.)
