To the people of the Indiana Territory. On June 17, 1812, Waller Taylor announced his candidacy as a delegate to Congress. He was a military man and a former member of the Virginia legislature. He was not in favor of the introduction of negroes in the Territory, but as enslaved or free people, he did not say. He was much in favor of support for veterans and early statehood for Indiana.
