Report of the Board of Public Works to the Legislature of the State of Louisiana. January 1860. Baton Rouge : J.M. Taylor, 1860. Lewis G. DeRussy,
President of the Board, sent the report on January 18, 1860. The Board was first met on January 2, [1860.] There were four Board members, a paid
secretary, a paid Chief Engineer and four paid assistant engineers. The Board requested and received some of the papers of the previous entities, but
it was still waiting for the records from three Swamp Land Commissioners. Without the records, the Board could not move forward, so it adjourned until
the records arrived.
