Report of the Secretary of State of the census of the State of Louisiana to the General Assembly in conformity with Act No. 291, approved March 18,
1858. Baton Rouge : J.M. Taylor, 1859. Three jurisdictions had failed to count their inhabitants at all, so he sent new people to take care of it.
The two and one quarter pages of tables had Parishes in the left column, Qualified Voters, White People, Number of Slaves, Number of Free White Males
from 18-45, Number of Free Negroes, Total. The grand total was 579,214.
