Auditor of Public Accounts. Special report, 1859
Special report of the Auditor of Public Accounts to the Legislature of the State of Louisiana. February 1859. Baton Rouge : J.M. Taylor, 1859. The
Auditor had been asked to explain the unpaid warrants sent by his office to the State Treasurer. The were six and one half pages listing the
warrants by recipient, warrant number, date, why issued, and amount grouped under the appropriation from which the monies were drawn. The Auditor thought
the Treasurer had honest reservations, but had fallen into error. The Auditor, in a rather sharp tone, then discussed the various warrants for
twenty-seven pages, followed by thirteen pages of correspondence with the Attorney-General.
