1872, Constitution of the State of Deseret
|
|
1871 Constitution of Deseret and memorial to Congress adopted in convention and ratified by the people on March 18, 1872. Of note, Deseret was a provisional state proposed by the settlers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City. This existed for only two years and was not recognized by the United States; the church attempted to write new constitutions in 1856, 1862 and 1872. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held the Library of Congress).
