Marietta and Newport Turnpike Road and Bridge Company. Report, <1839>-
**Document No. 10 Statement of the Marietta and Newport Turnpike Road and Bridge Company. December 5, 1839. Their president sent a brief
financial statement showing they had spent nearly all the money they had available. There was no mention of what had been done with the money. **Document
No. 31 Second annual report of the Marietta and Newport Turnpike Road and Bridge Company. December 31, 1840. Of the $27,000 plus a borrowing, the
company had spent it all on grading the road. It was ready to be graveled or paved. The company had paid a 2% dividend. **Document No. 39 Third
annual report of the Marietta and Newport Turnpike Road and Bridge Company. December 31, 1841. The Company paid a 3% dividend from the profits, which
were not explained. **Document No. 40 Report of the Marietta and Newport Turnpike Road and Bridge Company. December 27, 1842. The road was
finished and in good repair. The Company was debt free except for the county loan, so it would be able to pay regular dividends, although none were
mentioned.
