House. Comm. on Banks and Currency. Minority report, 1842
|
|
Appendix to House journal, no. 7. Report of the minority of the Standing Committee on Banks and Currency, February 17, 1842. [Ohio] The members thought it was time to reform paper currency; so many banks issued their own paper currency that it was difficult to know the real value of the bills. Many banks' charters would end in a year, so that would be a good time to replace many different banks with the State Bank of Ohio having many branches around the state, all issuing the same paper currency.
