1840 Report of the House Select Committee on the petitions of Portage County citizens regarding the reservoir on the Pennsylvania and Ohio Canal, and
attached as Appendix to House Journal, No. 9. Although the petitioners contended that the company was overarching in its power, such application for
authority had not occurred. The committee thus concluded the petitioners could withdraw their petition as premature. (Digitized from a microfilm
