Nixon, 1867. [The print is very small.] The federal Military Reconstruction bill would probably mean a complete reorganization of state government.
The Committee had given this a lot of thought. It was probably best for everyone to go along to get along. Be active in the elections, carefully
choosing men of character who were real leaders. Resist any urge to fight back, because then everyone would get hurt.
