1835, Memorial on the bill to incorporate the Boyden Malleable Cast Iron and Steel Company

SEE ALSO 52731 House No. 19 Memorial on the Boyden Malleable Cast Iron and Steel Company. Eighty citizens had asked for the company to be
incorporated, but they had heard that the Committee felt it did not have enough information about the company's plans. An attachment to the Memorial
detailed those plans. The Company had been operating in New Jersey for many years. In Massachusetts, it was building a large factory to make cutlery,
holloware, and agricultural implements, all of which would cut down on expensive imports. It expected to employ four hundred men, for whom it would have
to build a company town because of the factory's distance from housing. It had contracted for a wharf and expected to build two more large factory
buildings. Because of this, it needed to be incorporated with much more than $100,000 in real estate. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title
