1784 Constitution of the State of Franklin, which was published in The American Historical Magazine, volume IX in October 1904. A preface from the magazine was also included. Of note, Franklin was created in 1784 from part of the territory west of the Appalachian Mountains, a part of North Carolina. Originally intended to become a state, it existed for only about four and a half years, when North Carolina again took control.
