Assembly. Select Comm. on Division of the State. Report, 1855
1855 Report of the Select Committee with reference to the division of the State, with respect to Assembly bill NO. 262, which would create three
states out of the territory of California. Of note the committee determined that the representation in Congress was too small for such a large territory,
it seemed too extensive for one government, and the state capital was too inaccessible because of the distances to Southern California and various
other areas. Of note, the bill died in the state Senate. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the Library of Congress).
