Secretary of State. Endowments made to colleges in the Commonwealth, 1827
H.R. 28 On January 30, 1827, the Secretary of State responded to an order for a list of endowments provided to Massachusetts colleges. Beginning in
1636 with L400 to Harvard, there followed six pages of all kinds of grants to Harvard. There were five grants to Williams College, but those were
the only schools to receive anything. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
Title:   Secretary's office, January 30, 1827 : in obedience to an order of the House of Representatives of the 19th instant, I now submit a statement of the endowments which have been made to the several colleges by this government.
