1655-1806 Records of the Governor and Council. Of note, the first volume contained records from the Colony of Rhode Island; the second volume
contained state records. However, not all years were represented. There are various hands and good legibility. Documents include those of the Council or
General Council, which consisted of the Governor, Deputy Governor and 10 Assistants (who would become the colonial and state Senators). Additionally,
the files hold proceedings of the Council of War and Supreme Court of Probate. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of the title originally held by the
Rhode Island Department of State).
