Forty-third Legislature. Senate. No. 2. On January 27, 1864, the Adjutant General submitted tables of the number of men called for military service by the United States. The 12 pages of tables were organized first by county, then towns in each county, a column of the whole number of men, with further columns of each call up from April 1961 to October 1863, including the length of enlistment. The recap showed just over 40,000 men were mustered. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine State Library and the Library of Congress).
