Thirty-sixth Legislature. House. No. 1? On January 6, 1857, the Governor reported that the Land Agent, at his direction, had identified twenty-four half townships to be listed and reserved for the benefit of the common schools. The townships had been so identified in the land records. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).

The Governor and Council, in accordance with the resolve of the ninth of April, eighteen hundred and fifty-six, respectfully report to the legislature, that the Hon. James Walker, the Land Agent, acting under their advice and direction, has solicited and set apart twenty-four half townships of public lands, for the benefit of common schools.
