General Court. Act on lotteries, 1826
|
|
An act in relation to lotteries, 1826. Any acts prohibiting anything about lottery tickets were repealed. There followed a list of towns for which an annual license could be purchased from the State to sell lottery tickets from one place within the town. The fees ranged from $600 in Boston, to $100 for small towns. If tickets were sold without a license, the fine was $25 for each offense. Nothing in the act regulated the operation of a lottery, just ticket sales. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
