January 1866 Communication from the Delegation of the Cherokee Nation to the President Andres Johnson, including the October 31, 1865 memorial of the
Cherokee National Council to the President, and correspondence between John Ross, Principal Chief, and certain officers of the rebellious states. Of
note, Ross was the pro-Union Chief and was able to persuade the President to reject a harsh treaty. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles
