1866 Memorial of the Delegates of the Cherokee Nation to the President and Congress of the United States against a proposed bill to consolidate the Indian tribes and establish a civil government in the Indian Territory. Further, the Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma describes its plight during the Civil War and its relations with the Confederacy. The Memorial also includes (p. 12) the text of An Act Emancipating the Slaves in the Cherokee Nation, approved on February 21, 1863.
