Fortieth Legislature. House. No. 46. The Committee on Manufactures offered a bill: An Act to incorporate the Presumpscot Land and Water Power
Company, 1861. Three men were incorporated as above, holding real estate of up to $1,000,000. The Company was authorized to build dams across the
Presumpscot River, locks around them, and to connect with railroads, but not to injure any existing arrangements.
