Fortieth Legislature. House. No. 44. An Act to authorize certain towns and the City of Bangor to aid in the construction of the Bangor &
Piscataquis Railroad, 1861. Bangor and six other towns could offer defined amounts of credit to the railroad. The railroad had to prove it had $50,000 in
hand and then there would be the usual arrangements for scrip and its repayment. Both the company and the town had to agree to the arrangement.
