Thirty-ninth Legislature. House. No. 23. An Act for the appointment of trial justices, 1860. The Governor would appoint an unnamed number of people in each county to be trial justices. The men would have the same level of authority as a justice of the peace. They had jurisdiction over civil actions, and could issue writs and judgments. There were directions for the times of court and the presence of the parties. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
