<1852> Annual reports of the President and Directors of the Roanoke Navigation Company to the stockholders, and later submitted to the Internal Board
and General Assembly. Included were financial statements and discussions of the past year's business. Of note, in the 1852 financial statement
indicated that company owned Negro slaves, as there was a line item regarding their sale ($9,628.55). This line item was also found in other reports. In
addition, as of the date of the 1852 report, the company listed fourteen slaves under the heading "Property held by the Company." (Digitized from a
microfilm copy of titles originally held by the Library of Congress).
