House. Comm. on Geological Survey. Report, 1855
|
|
1855 Report of the Select Committee on Geological Survey regarding the progress made in the Geological and Agricultural Survey of North Carolina. Strongly supporting the survey and defending the cost and time involved, the committee recommended a bill to repeal the survey not pass, and the head surveyor be allowed to published his finding made within the following two years. Of note, the committee compared the cost and time expenditures of New York's survey to that of North Carolina; the former's survey was very much more expensive and allotted much more time to complete. This comparison was used to support the continued efforts to complete the survey a necessity for planned internal improvements.
