Commons. Comm. on Internal Improvement. Report on memorial of F.E. Rives, 1846
1846 Report of the House of Commons Committee of Internal Improvements on the Memorial of Francis E. Rises, and a bill to incorporate the Roanoke
Rail Road Company to run from Weldon in the County of Halifax to the Virginia state line. The committee concluded that North Carolina should build of
this road, but examined whether Rives, a Virginian, or a North Carolina citizen should be allowed to build it. The committee saw no benefit from
giving the power to a non-citizen and would not grant the attached petition from Rives. The bill would be recommended for passage. (Digitized from a
microfilm copy of titles originally held by the Library of Congress).
