1845 Report of the Select Committee on Asylums considering if a lunatic asylum should be built in the state "where they receive all those kind
attentions, all that soothing and consoling treatment, which their unhappy condition demands." After examining various information, the committee
recommended an appropriation of $25,000 for purchase and construction of an asylum. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the
