House. Substitute to bill to prevent circulation fo seditious writing, 1830?
1839? House substitute bill, proposed by the Committee for Courts of Justice regarding a bill to prevent the circulation of seditious writing and
other purposes. The focus of these writing were printing or writing advice regarding insurrection or rebellion among slaves, and presented to slaves,
free Negroes, or mulattoes. In addition, teachings these persons to read was also considered a crime. Of note, some of the punishments were left
blank. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
