Two volume set of the the laws of Las Siete Partidas which were still in force in Louisiana when printed in 1820. Of note, Siete Partidas was basic
Spanish law, a carry-over from Spanish colonial times The volumes were translated from Spanish by Louis Moreau Lislet and Henry Carleton. The
preface contained a short historical sketch of the Spanish legislation, and noted that repealed portions were omitted in the volumes. Of note, the various
laws were divided into parts, including sections on the Catholic faith, criminal justice, marriage and other topics, all covered in the index.
