Description and Holding Information
1867-02-12, Virginia and Tennessee Railroad Co.
February 12, 1867 correspondence from Virginia Governor Peirpoint requesting that the legislative call a stockholder meeting to deal with the refusal
of the Virginia and Tennessee Railroad Company to acknowledge a state loan of $886,685. In 1863, the railroad attempted to pay off this loan with
Confederate money; subsequently, the Commissioners of the Sinking Fund returned said money, as it was determined that it was paid into the state
treasury without authority. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
