February 19, 1754 Proclamation of Lieutenant Governor Robert Dinwiddie which encouraged enlistment to defend against the French, by offering land on
the east side of the Ohio River. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of the title originally held by the Historical Society of Pennsylvania Library).
Title:   A proclamation, for encouraging men to enlist in His Majesty's service for the defence and security of this colony. : Whereas it is determined that a fort be immediately built on the River Ohio . Given at the Council-chamber in Williamsburg, on the 19th day of February, in the 27th year of His Majesty's reign, annoque Domini 1754.
